What is siphoning off our attention today? Be AWARE. Social media takes, takes, takes. But what is it actually giving you? A little hit of validation. Something to look at. A front row seat to everyone else's highlight reel ... which, by the way, is usually fake. You are comparing your behind the scenes to someone else's edited trailer. Music is beautiful. It can move you, motivate you, get you into state. But it can also become a loop you don't even notice you're in. Same three songs, same emotional pattern, and whatever is underneath that pattern never actually gets felt or processed. AKA you're using the music to avoid the thing the music brings up. Streaming shows ... it is so easy to pop one on and be entertained for hours. It feels comfortable. Safe. But comfortable isn't always good for you. What about the kids? What about the life you said you wanted to build? Hours pass and you barely felt them go. And then there's the news. Good old anxiety and fear, served up on demand. People are addicted to the chaos of it. FOMO is at an all time high. None of this is designing your life. It is designing your nervous system, on someone else's terms. Here's the thing. Attention is the raw material of creation. You cannot build the life you want with an attention span that's been sold off in pieces to everyone else's agenda. Every hour spent numbing out is an hour not spent building. This doesn't mean never watch a show or listen to a song again. It means noticing. Noticing when you reach for the phone out of boredom versus intention. Noticing when the show is rest versus when it's avoidance. That awareness is the whole practice. What is one thing you resolve to do this week to unplug from the noise and redirect your attention to something worth while? And once you get that attention back ... what will you actually do with it? Much love, Casey
