"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."
— George S. Patton
Most agents don't lose the week on Wednesday. They lose it Monday morning with no plan.
Ten minutes before you start. Five steps.
1. Open your calendar and look for the wrecks.
Double-booked showings. Two appointments across town in the same hour. A closing that runs into a listing presentation. Find them now, not twenty minutes before. Moving something on Monday is easy. Moving it Thursday makes you look unprofessional.
2. Add travel time to every appointment.
Most agents book the appointment and forget the drive. Then they're ten minutes late and apologizing before they've said anything else. Set travel time on the event and your calendar tells you exactly when to leave. Apple Calendar has this built in. Open the event, tap Travel Time, pick the starting location. It does the math for you.
3. Put your real life on the calendar too.
Kid's game Wednesday night. Dentist Thursday morning. Dinner you already committed to. If it's not on there, you'll book over it and then break one of the two. Your week has to work around your life, not pretend it doesn't exist.
4. Block the work that actually pays you, then protect it.
Prospecting. Follow-up. Appointments. Put those blocks in before anything else fills the space. Busy work will take every open minute you give it. Paperwork, inbox, "quick" errands. None of it is urgent enough to push your call time.
5. Now look at the blank space.
Two questions. Are you trying to grow? Then some of that white space needs to become prospecting time. Empty calendar and empty pipeline are the same problem.
But don't fill all of it. Something is going to pop up this week that you didn't plan for. A buyer needs to see a house today. An inspection comes back ugly. If you're wall to wall every day, you can't absorb any of it without breaking something else.
Leave margin on purpose. It's not wasted time. It's the room that lets you say yes when it matters.
Bonus: the prompt I run every Monday morning. This is attached so you can use it as a starting point with your Claude or Chat GPT to dial in your calendar quickly.
****Tip: I love doing this in voice mode so I can talk it through and be given a verbal runway for my week.
Here's my calendar. Blurred for obvious reasons, but you can see the shape of it. Protected blocks first. Travel time on everything. Margin left on purpose, with bookable appointments.
Now show me yours. Screenshot your week, blur what you need to, drop it in the comments. I'll tell you what I see.
A plan you actually run beats a perfect plan you never start.
Win Monday, win the week.
