South Carolina Clay Conference
I’m currently deep in pottery heaven at the SC Clay Conference in Newberry and y’all… the potters here are AMAZING. We’ve got 160 clay-loving humans all geeking out together over everything pottery — tools, techniques, shop talk, and those magical conversations that only happen when potters get in a room together 🤍 Our guest potters this year are the incredible Martha Grover and Julia Galloway — truly inspiring to watch, listen to, and learn from. Between demonstrations, hands-on instruction, thoughtful discussions, and yes… RAFFLES (because prizes 😉😘), my creative cup is OVERFLOWING. This is the kind of clay community that reminds me why I love what we do — learning, sharing, laughing, and getting our hands dirty together. If you ever get the chance to attend, do NOT hesitate 🐷✨ Back to geeking out with my people 🏺💛

Kiln
Hey Paula, I’m enjoying your videos! I am a newbie to pottery. I fuse glass and have a glass kiln, elements are in on the top and the highest temperature the kiln goes to is 1800F. I’m hoping to make moulds and bisque fire as I would like to slump glass into it. I know I can’t do much more than this as top temperature is only 1800F. I have an electric controller. Any thoughts?
Tureen
Hey Paula, I attempted a bowl on the wheel that turned into a tureen. Mine has an octopus and I also attempted a spoon or ladle and I mean attempt I don’t think it’s gonna make it.
Thrift store find!
Hey everyone! Do you like to thrift shop? I especially go just to find things to use with my clay! Today’s find was amazing! I found this thing that is used to dry baby bottles - looks like plastic grass in a tray to catch the water. I saw it am immediately thought, “tool holder” to put by my wheel! It has two weird little flower things that possibly held bottle nipples? Not sure what to do with those…I am taking suggestions! Cost me a whole $2.50! What has been your favorite thrift store tool? I have a bunch of “bits and bobs” from the thrift store that I can show you! Stay muddy! Paula
