Hello beautiful souls!
I don't know about you but last week was a doozy. The kiddo was sick with the flu for 3 days and I'm pretty sure hubby had Norovirus at the same time. I spent the week caretaking and cleaning so that's why you didn't hear much from me.
Yet, I was able to have gratitude. You see, I was able to be at home to take care of my kiddo without additional stress. I know I'm extremely lucky to be in that position. I can't tell you the amount of stress I experienced having an autoimmune disorder, trying to work at a non-profit, and trying to be a good mom. I felt horrible because I was either so tired I could barely function for my kiddo or I was getting told at work I took too much time to be with my son. It didn't matter that I would be texting a teacher till 10:00pm at night securing placements or that at my peak I was doing 300 job shadowing placements a year for students. And that was just one project of the many I was involved in.
I always to try make my kiddo feel loved. We have our silly inside jokes and things that crack us up. We listen to his Nerdcore Music all the time as we are riding to and from tennis or wherever it is we are going. But last week I felt I had a huge parenting win. He told me that even though he was sick it wasn't as bad because he felt special. Because he was so well taken care of. And that made my heart so happy. I was so much less stressed because I was able to be at home. And that came through so it confirmed yet again my decision to leave the non-profit.
Not everyone is so lucky to be able to have a parent stay home in this world we live in now. So it's all the more important for us to come together to support one another. That's what Parent Power Hour is all about. We can come together to support one another and help our teens and young adults find careers they will be happy with which in turn increases success. So be sure to join us today at 4pm EST. We will meet most Mondays unless I am out of town.
Click here to join the Go Brunch link at 4pm. Or go to the calendar and click on the link. Please let me know if you are attending as I have also promoted the event on Linked In try and get some people from there involved in the group as well. Right now we only have 10 spots available. I can increase that if we start to have an over flow. Also, please remember that for the best Go Brunch experience, it's best viewed on a laptop to get the full effect of the cozy room we have there. Hope to see you today!
