Parent Advocacy
Hello beautiful souls! I just wanted you to know that if you are out there advocating for your child for opportunities or to pursue their passions you are not alone.
I am so proud of my kiddo. A brand new program opened up at another school for the first two periods of the day. This is the first year they have opened up the program to other schools and my son is bravely going to be THE ONLY ONE from his school to do it.
This past year has provided many obstacles. We didn’t have a new principal named until mid summer AND the only person who knew he was doing this program, the guidance counselor, left so now have a new guidance counselor.
This momma has been stressed. I was told that he would have transportation provided for him to and from the new school. With all the changes I had a feeling, even though I had been assured, that he would not have transportation the first day of school.
My instincts were correct. The principal has been given no information and school starts tomorrow.
So momma is making calls this morning. I’m taking him for sure tomorrow and it’s a 20 mile round trip. So send some positive vibes because this momma has a lot of advocating to do. This is the first time he has EVER been excited about any part of school so his dad and I will make it happen..but support is much appreciated.
