Paranormal 101 for Dummies. Teach Me.
I’m stepping into this space as a student. Not an expert. Not a skeptic. Just curious and respectful. I want to learn how you approach paranormal investigation. Help me understand the basics. • What should a beginner know before their first investigation? • What tools actually matter and which ones are noise? • What mistakes do new investigators make early? • How do you protect yourself mentally or emotionally? • What’s one thing you wish someone taught you sooner? If you’ve investigated before, teach me one thing. If you’re learning too, ask a question with me. No pressure to impress. Just real experience. If I walked into an investigation with you tomorrow… What would you want me to understand first?

10 Things Nobody Tells You About Paranormal Investigating 👻
Here are 10 things many people wish they had known before getting into paranormal investigating: 1- It’s Not Like TV Shows—Television makes it look like ghosts appear on cue. In truth, you might sit in silence for hours with nothing unusual happening. Paranormal investigating is more about waiting and observing than nonstop action. 2 - Equipment Isn’t Magic—Before you drop thousands on gadgets, know this: the best tools are often simple—your eyes, ears, intuition, a notebook, and a recorder. Many people regret overspending early on, only to realize evidence still depends on patience and interpretation. 3 - You Need Patience—Ghosts don’t show up on command. Sometimes it takes repeated visits, historical digging, and the right energy before activity even stirs. Paranormal work is a long game. 4 - Evidence Review Takes Longer Than Investigating—For every hour you spend in a haunted location, expect to spend three to four hours reviewing recordings and footage. Most investigators quickly discover that the “fun” part is only a small fraction of the work. 5 - You’ll Face Skepticism—Not everyone will believe your experiences—or your evidence. Friends may raise eyebrows, and critics online may call it fake. It helps to have thick skin and focus on why you are doing this work in the first place. 6 - Respect is Key—TV might glorify provoking spirits for reactions, but in reality, respect is crucial—both for the spirits and the property you’re investigating. Being courteous can open more doors (sometimes literally) than taunts or theatrics. 7 - History Research Matters—Researching a location’s history is just as important as setting up equipment. Names, events, and timelines often provide context for unexplained activity. Without this knowledge, you’re only scratching the surface. 8 - Personal Reactions Are Unpredictable—Even the bravest investigators admit to getting startled, emotionally drained, or deeply unsettled. Paranormal encounters can shake you in unexpected ways—mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.

History question
@Destiny Godden you have done an amazing job on the course really appreciated your hard work and effort. Question on history is it better to find out the history of a location after the investigation?I understand that in some cases this may be impossible as in knowledge of the history before hand may guide or influence the investigation and investigators
