As a nurse and a holistic practitioner… one thing I see over and over again is people trying to heal while their nervous system is stuck in survival mode.
Your nervous system has two main gears.
The sympathetic state is your fight or flight mode.
Heart rate goes up… blood pressure rises… digestion slows… stress hormones increase.
This state is incredible when you need to run, react, or handle danger.
But here is the problem.
Most people are living in this gear all day long.
Emails… bills… poor sleep… processed food… constant stimulation… caffeine… scrolling… stress.
The body interprets all of that as threat.
And when the body feels threatened… it does not prioritize healing.
Now the other gear is the parasympathetic state.
This is rest, digest, repair, and restore.
Heart rate slows… digestion turns back on… hormones balance… the immune system functions better… tissues repair.
This is where healing actually happens.
Not when we are rushing.
Not when we are panicking.
Not when we are running on caffeine and stress.
Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to repair.
This is why things like mineral balance… good food… sunlight… breath… walking outside… prayer… grounding… and real rest matter so much.
They help shift the body out of survival mode and back into regulation.
And once the nervous system feels safe again… the body can finally do what it was designed to do all along.
Heal. 🌿
