Why some artists "make it" and some don't
I just watched a video that every single artist and entrepreneur needs to see. It hit me hard because it unpacks a truth I've shared in THREE coaching sessions with artists just this week. I need to speak about it more, so I'll start now. The speaker said, "Most musicians don't fail because they're bad. They fail because their brain isn't built for it." Let that sink in. It's not about your talent. It's not about how well you sing or play or write. I know a thousand talented artists who are stuck. You probably do, too. Talent is the buy-in, it's the ticket to the game. It's not the win. The video nails the three things that break most artists: 1. Can you write when no one cares? Can you pour your soul into a song, knowing it might get a handful of streams, most of them from your family? Can you keep creating in the silence, before the applause comes? This is the work. Writing in a vacuum, for an audience of one (you), is the first test of your resolve. 2. Can you perform after rejection number 47… or 447? Can you handle the booker who doesn't email back? The A&R rep who says you're "not quite there yet"? The thin crowd on a Tuesday night? Every "no" is a test. It's not personal; it's a filter. The industry is designed to see who has the grit to keep showing up, to keep knocking on doors, to believe in their show even when the room is half-empty. 3. Can you handle the weight of being ignored? This one is the silent killer. It's the feeling of shouting into the void. You're putting out your best work, you're playing shows, you're doing all the "right" things… and all you hear back is crickets. That feeling of invisibility is a heavy, heavy weight. It's what makes most people pack it in and say, "Maybe I'm just not cut out for this." They're right, but not for the reason they think. They're not cut out for it because their mind isn't conditioned for the reality of the journey. They expected their talent to be enough. It never is. Your musical chops are just one part of the equation. The other, much bigger part, is your mental resilience. The artists who build a career are the ones who have trained their minds to withstand the silence, to learn from the rejection, and to carry the weight of being ignored until it's replaced by the roar of a crowd that finally found them.

Stop Chasing. Start Attracting.
The ARTIST Who Attracts an Audience... So many artists are out there chasing success. Chasing a record deal, chasing a bigger audience, chasing the next opportunity. But what if I told you that you don't have to chase the impact you're called to make? What if you could attract it? Success in your music ministry isn't something you hunt down; it's something you draw to yourself by the artist you become. It's a natural result of your growth, your discipline, your network, and your stewardship of the gift God has placed within you. Most artists are waiting. Waiting for the right producer to discover them, waiting for the perfect tour to open up, waiting for their song to magically go viral. But the artists who make a lasting impact—the ones whose music truly changes lives—don't wait for perfect conditions. They create their own conditions through a powerful mindset and consistent, disciplined action. That's the real difference between the dreamers and the doers. It's the ability to take relentless action, even when the inspiration isn't there, even when no one is watching, and even when you feel like you're singing to an empty room. It's about showing up and doing the work when it's just you and God. What does that look like for you, as an artist? It means you don't just practice when you feel like it; you have a dedicated, non-negotiable time to hone your craft. It means you don't just write when a melody strikes; you sit down and steward the gift of songwriting every week or every day, even when it's a struggle. It means you don't just post on social media when you have a show to promote; you consistently serve and connect with the audience God has given you, no matter the size. This journey will come with setbacks. You'll face rejection, you'll have songs that don't connect, and you'll have moments of doubt. But resilience MUST become your superpower. Failure is not the opposite pursuing of your calling; it's a part of it. Every "no" is a lesson. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Every closed door is a redirection or, at the very least, an opportunity to grow.

EPKs! What, Why, and How...
What is an EPK? And do you need one? It’s an Electronic Press Kit. It’s the new DIGITAL version of the classic PHYSICAL Press Kit that artists would send to promoters, venues, labels, and just about anyone else they wanted to work with. But now, we don’t have to spend a bunch of $$$ shipping big packages, CDs, and posters all over the country. We can package and send them electronically. Via email or text. And if you are REALLY determined to stand out… you can send a Video EPK. Today’s Video EPK is a 1-3 minute promotional video that needs to look pro or it won’t be taken seriously. It features snippets of the artist performing their best songs, and even spoken segments where the artist can explain the heart of their ministry and connect with the viewer on a more personal level. In short, the Video EPK is the Booking and Promotional SUPERTOOL you need. One artist friend of mine booked 17 dates of a 22 date Southwest tour with his new Video EPK. And the majority of those reach outs were COLD emails! But the EPK was great. It looked and sounded pro. It opened doors across the country. How important is it to have one? Well, I’m shooting one for MY music ministry on Feb 20th in Nashville, TN. And I don’t even do that many concert dates! But I want to have the best key I can possibly have to open music and ministry doors. So, I need a great looking Video EPK. YOU TOO can participate in our 1/2 Price EPK and Music Video Shoot Day. Currently, I have 2 spots remaining for the shoot. Live bands. Tracks. Soloists. Quartets. Experienced. New Artists. We can accommodate any of you. Reach out to me NOW for details. Our 1/2 price shoot is only 19 days away!!! This year we are taking the Singing News film crew to the beautiful Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon TN for a full day of shooting. It’s a 4 camera shoot, professionally lit, and recorded into Pro-Tools so it all sounds great. You've seen this venue on numerous Singing news TV specials. All video assets are yours to own and EVERY Video service we provide will be 1/2 price that day. For Instance:

BOOKING is apparently important...
3 of my last 4 coaching sessions in 2026 have been about booking. We have re-written booking emails, laid out strategy for the easiest dates to book (and the hardest!), scripted booking calls, and addressed the mindset needed to become a booking machine in 2026. The world has changed. Booking methods have changed. But the principles that GET YOU BOOKED have not. I'm here to coach you through this. Book your session today. If you recently purchased a course from me... you GET a free coaching session anyway. Either way... reach out directly to me for the path forward. EVERYTHING you want for your music or ministry in 2026 is on the other side of a life changing coaching session. Just message me now. [email protected] 757-892-0289
