The ARTIST Who Attracts an Audience...
So many artists are out there chasing success. Chasing a record deal, chasing a bigger audience, chasing the next opportunity. But what if I told you that you don't have to chase the impact you're called to make? What if you could attract it?
Success in your music ministry isn't something you hunt down; it's something you draw to yourself by the artist you become. It's a natural result of your growth, your discipline, your network, and your stewardship of the gift God has placed within you.
Most artists are waiting. Waiting for the right producer to discover them, waiting for the perfect tour to open up, waiting for their song to magically go viral. But the artists who make a lasting impact—the ones whose music truly changes lives—don't wait for perfect conditions. They create their own conditions through a powerful mindset and consistent, disciplined action.
That's the real difference between the dreamers and the doers. It's the ability to take relentless action, even when the inspiration isn't there, even when no one is watching, and even when you feel like you're singing to an empty room. It's about showing up and doing the work when it's just you and God.
What does that look like for you, as an artist?
It means you don't just practice when you feel like it; you have a dedicated, non-negotiable time to hone your craft. It means you don't just write when a melody strikes; you sit down and steward the gift of songwriting every week or every day, even when it's a struggle. It means you don't just post on social media when you have a show to promote; you consistently serve and connect with the audience God has given you, no matter the size.
This journey will come with setbacks. You'll face rejection, you'll have songs that don't connect, and you'll have moments of doubt. But resilience MUST become your superpower. Failure is not the opposite pursuing of your calling; it's a part of it. Every "no" is a lesson. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Every closed door is a redirection or, at the very least, an opportunity to grow.
To walk this path, you have to shift your mindset from one of scarcity to one of abundance. Stop seeing other artists' success as a threat and start seeing it as a testimony. Stop seeing challenges as roadblocks and start seeing them as opportunities to trust God and grow your faith. See every opportunity to sing, whether to one person or one thousand, as a gift.
And at the very foundation of it all is your belief. You have to believe in the gift God has given you before anyone else will. You have to be so rooted in your calling that the opinions of others don't shake you. Your identity as a child of God, an artist, and a steward of a unique gift must be the source of your confidence.
So, define your vision. So many artists that I coach haven't done this... or won't! But if you don't define your target, how will you know if you hit it? You need to answer these questions.
What does a successful music ministry look like for you? Is it leading worship in your local church? Is it touring the world? Is it somewhere in between? Is it writing songs that give a voice to the voiceless? Get specific. Write it down. Pray over it. Let that vision pull you forward and give purpose to your daily actions and habits… whether you feel like it today or not.
The time to wait is over. The time to start becoming the artist who attracts the audience, the opportunities, and the impact you were created for is now. Stop waiting for permission. Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Start with what you have, right where you are.
Because a powerful music ministry isn't a prize you win. It's the natural, inevitable result of growing into the person—the artist—God has called and designed you to be.
