Recruiter: The range is 120 to 145K. He was making 89K. If he had answered the first question, he would have been offered 95 and called it a raise. Instead he signed at 138. Here is what nobody teaches you. Your last salary is not data about your worth. It is data about your last employer's budget. Never let a number from your past set the ceiling on your future.
