Upfront Snare
Here is an example of an upfront snare. Ever present against vocals, guitars, and yet it sits back just so much when other instruments are the focus.
Hope you enjoy and get the concept of what others are trying to teach you. It's really difficult to teach and convey through modern music. I find rock, blues, R&B from the 50s through early 80s the easiest to --hear-- concepts. Then apply these concepts to your current desires. EDM, "pop", "R&B".
I'm not saying old music is better. I like modern, old, you name it. But learning a trade.... You decide and since you are involved in a 'hearing sport' or 'hearing profession', listen to your ears.
