Sunday Solitude: Give Yourself Permission to Be Still
Happy Sunday, Still Rising family. Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do for ourselves is slow down. If you’re caring for an aging parent, a spouse, or someone living with chronic illness, your days may be filled with everyone else’s needs. The medications. The appointments. The worries. The endless to-do list. But today, I want to remind you of something important. You are a person, too. Your needs matter, and your soul needs rest. You don’t have to solve every problem today. You don’t have to feel guilty for taking a breath. You don’t have to earn your rest. Find a quiet moment today. Sit with your coffee. Listen to the birds. Read a favorite scripture. Pray, breathe, or simply enjoy the silence. Psalm 46:10 reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Sometimes, stillness is where we find the strength to keep going. Here at Still Rising, we believe caring for yourself is part of caring for others. So, my question for you today is: What is one thing you can let go of today so your heart can rest? Share it with us below. You don’t have to walk this journey alone. With love, Ma Laurie
😂 Saturday Silly: The Slipper Shuffle!
Well, friends, I may need to start checking myself before leaving the house! Today, I walked right into my Zumba class wearing my SLIPPERS! No, I wasn’t planning a new dance routine called The Slipper Shuffle! I changed into my tennis shoes for class and left my slippers behind. Somewhere between getting my groove on and remembering my steps, I completely forgot about those poor slippers! Now I’m wondering if they felt left behind until I retrieved them😂 Here’s your Saturday reminder: Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be funny. Sometimes, the best memories come from the moments when we aren’t paying attention! Your turn! What’s the silliest thing you’ve done lately? Come on, friends. Make me feel better about my slipper adventure! Let’s laugh a little, enjoy the moment, and remember that we’re all a work in progress. Have a wonderfully silly Saturday! 🎉 Friday Follies: Let’s Celebrate Our Wins!
Happy Friday, Still Rising family! Let’s take a breath and look back at this week. Life isn’t always easy, especially when you’re caring for someone you love. Some weeks, the wins are big. Other weeks, simply getting through the day is a win. Maybe you finally took a little time for yourself. Maybe you asked for help instead of doing it all alone. Maybe you laughed, made a memory, or gave yourself grace on a hard day. Those wins count, too! Here at Still Rising, we celebrate progress, not perfection. You don’t have to climb a mountain to prove you’re moving forward. Sometimes, getting out of bed and trying again is enough. So, let’s have a little Friday fun! Tell us one win from your week. Big, small, silly, or serious. Mine will be posted in the comments. We want to celebrate with you! Remember, you are still growing. You are still worthy. And you are Still Rising! With love, Ma Laurie
🌿 Wednesday Wisdom: Give Yourself Grace 🌿
Good morning, Still Rising family! Here is a little wisdom for your Wednesday. You can love someone deeply and still need a break. You can be strong and still feel tired. You can have faith and still have days when you don’t know what to do next. And you can be a caregiver, a spouse, a parent, or the person everyone depends on and still need someone to care for you. Please remember this: You are a person, too. You don’t have to earn rest by reaching the point of exhaustion. You don’t have to feel guilty for laughing, taking a walk, enjoying a cup of coffee, or doing something just for yourself. God never asked you to carry every burden alone. Sometimes wisdom means doing less, asking for help, and trusting God with what you cannot control. Today, take a breath. Give yourself the same kindness you give everyone else. You are still growing. You are still worthy. And you are still rising. Let’s talk: What is one thing you need to give yourself permission to do today? Share it in the comments. You never know who needs to hear your words. With love, Ma Laurie Still Rising — Honoring Every Life. At Every Stage.
Thankful Thursday: Even on the Hard Days
Caregiving can leave you feeling tired, overwhelmed, and stretched thin. Today, take a moment to breathe. Thank God for the little things. The smile. The hug. The cup of coffee. The strength to try again tomorrow. Gratitude doesn’t mean life is perfect. It means we can still find a little light in the middle of the hard days. Caregiver, you matter, too. What is one thing you’re thankful for today? Share it in the comments. Let’s remind each other that even in difficult seasons, there is still good to be found.
