Insights After 18 Interviews
I’ve now spoken with 18 athletes after hamstring surgery or conservative rehab.
One thing that stood out:
The biggest transformation wasn’t just in the leg — it was how they saw their body as a whole.
Athletes told me:
  • “I learned my glutes and core matter as much as my hamstring.”
  • “I realised pain doesn’t only mean damage, it means I need to listen.”
  • “Rehab taught me patience with my body, not fighting against it.”
Recovery isn’t only about fixing a tendon. It’s about transforming the way you move, train, and trust your body again.
➡️ For those of you I interviewed: does this reflect your experience?
➡️ For everyone else: what part of your recovery has surprised you the most?
