Start here: what this community is for
Welcome to Local AISEO. This community exists for one question. When somebody asks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity or Gemini to recommend a business like yours, does your name come up? That question is new, the answers keep changing, and most of what is written about it is guesswork. So the rule here is simple. We work from what we can measure. WHAT WE BRING Dom and the team run UK Local SEO. We own or look after 12 UK sites across brewery tours, property, energy and holiday lets, and we report what those sites actually show in Google Search Console and GA4. When we post a number here it comes with a date and a source. Where the data is American, we label it American. WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE Posts on what has changed in AI search and what to do about it. Teardowns of real local sites, including our own, with the numbers attached. Checks you can run yourself in ten minutes with no budget. Straight answers when you ask a question. WHO IT IS FOR Owners of any business, anywhere in the world, that wants local customers, plus the agencies, freelancers and marketers looking after them. Our examples are UK sites because those are the ones we run. The tools and the method work in any country. You do not need to be technical. If you can edit your website and your Google profile, you can do everything we cover. HOUSE RULES Be useful. Answer questions where you can. No promises of rankings, from anyone, including us. Nobody can guarantee a placement in an AI answer, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something. Cite your source when you quote a figure, and give the date. AI search changes month to month, so a statistic without a date is worthless. No spam and no cold pitching in the comments. Share your own work when it is relevant and adds something. Disagree freely. Bring evidence. YOUR FIRST STEP Go to the introductions post and tell us what your business does, where you serve, and the one search you most want to be the answer to. That last part shapes what gets posted here.

Introduce yourself: what do you want to be the answer to?
Drop a comment below with four lines. Line one. What your business does. Line two. The town, city or area you serve. Line three. The one question you most want an AI assistant to name you for. For example, best dog groomer in Tunbridge Wells, or EPC assessor near me. Line four. What you have already tried, if anything. The third line matters most. It is the search you would pay to own, and it tells us which platforms are worth your time. A question somebody asks before buying tends to be answered by ChatGPT reading your website and the review sites. A question about opening hours or directions tends to stay with Google. We read every one of these, and where there is an obvious quick win we will say what it is. To go first: Dom and the team are in Hartfield, East Sussex, running UK Local SEO. The search we want to own is local AI SEO, and the honest position is that we are still working on it ourselves.

Your business is probably on Google Maps already. Here is how to tell who owns the listing
Morning all. Nothing new out of Google today, just the job that sits underneath everything else, and one most of you can finish before lunch. There is very likely a listing for your business on Google Maps that nobody at your business put there. Appearing on Maps and being verified on Maps are two different states, and only the second one is something you did. Google says that if an unverified Business Profile for your business already exists, you can claim the Business Profile. If it has already been verified, Google says that when you are authorised to manage the business you can request ownership from the current profile owner. And it says you can add or claim your business at no charge, so anybody ringing to unlock your listing for a fee is charging you for something Google gives away. The one thing to do this week: search your business name and your town in Maps on a computer, in a private window, and see whether the claim control is showing. That one look tells you which of the two jobs you have. https://youtu.be/DMqRFWuLdgY The full write-up, with Google's own wording and the source: https://www.uklocalseo.com/blog/claim-your-business-on-google-maps

New course: backlinks, and the link number nobody exports
Course six is live in the classroom: Backlinks and Local Digital PR. Eight lessons, built on live link data pulled from sites we run on 12 September 2026 rather than on theory. Here is the finding that shaped it. Two brewery tour sites, same market, both ours. One has 305 backlinks from 201 referring domains and an authority score of 36. The other has 594 backlinks from 237 referring domains and a score of 46. Close enough that it explains very little. Now the two numbers nobody exports. The first site has links pointing at 23 pages. The second has links pointing at 62. The first has 43 distinct anchor texts, the second has 91. That is the real difference, and more outreach does not fix it. On the first site, 166 of its 201 referring domains point at one tour listing page. Everything else is invisible to that signal. So before you chase a single new link: find the page holding most of your links, and add internal links from it to the three pages you actually want to rank, with descriptive anchor text. Free, one afternoon, and it beats any campaign you could start today. Also in the course: turning the sources AI assistants cite into a target list, the one test that settles whether a paid directory is worth paying for, and why the disavow tool is almost always the wrong answer. On that last one. We pulled a large national trade directory on 12 September 2026. It has 2,920,133 backlinks, and 307 separate referring domains point at it using a link seller advert as the anchor text. Nobody there chose that and nobody there can stop it. It still ranks across the country. That is your answer on whether spam links are hurting you. Course is here: https://www.skool.com/local-aiseo-3963/classroom/55fbb516 Post your referring domain count and your pages-with-links count. The gap between those two is usually the most useful thing anyone learns this week.

Your Google subscription can now take dictation, and Spark is listed for the US
Morning all. Nothing to install today, but two things worth five minutes inside an account most of you already pay for. Google has added voice in Gmail, Docs and Keep to its AI plans. It says you can draft documents, find information in your inbox and capture thoughts quickly, and it gives the availability as AI Plus, Pro and Ultra in Gmail and Keep, and AI Pro and Ultra in Docs. Google Pics can also be tried in Workspace for posters and social posts, with AI Pro and Ultra. Gemini Spark, the part that runs errands on the web, is listed for the US, and no other country is named anywhere in the announcement. The one thing to do this week: sign in, open Gmail and Keep, and ask your inbox out loud for something you would normally scroll for, such as a gate code or an agreed price. That is the feature I expect to get used daily. And keep generated pictures off your Business Profile, where the photographs are doing a different job entirely. https://youtu.be/lDvBiMDmT94 The full write-up, with Google's own wording and the source: https://www.uklocalseo.com/blog/google-ai-plans-add-voice-and-pics
