🇺🇸 English Expressions: Tell One Thing from Another 🔍
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “tell one thing from another.” 👉 It means to be able to distinguish or recognize differences between things, often when something is confusing or similar to something else. If you can’t tell one thing from another, it means you’re confused or can’t differentiate. Origin: This saying comes from everyday English and is all about noticing differences. People have been using it since at least the 17th century to talk about being able (or not) to see things clearly. 🧐 Examples: • I was so tired this morning, I couldn’t tell my keys from my wallet. 😴 • Without my glasses, I can’t tell my coffee cup from my water bottle. 👓 • I mixed up the salt and sugar while baking—I couldn’t tell one from the other. 🍰 Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “tell one thing from another” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝 English Expressions pages in the Classroom 👉 https://www.skool.com/lme/classroom/c7105c70?md=a0522a36e24d4286a880b2f958b8f1ea
