Today we’re clearing up one of the most confusing phrasal verb pairs in English 👀GIVE UP vs GIVE IN
They may both sound like “quitting”…but they’re actually quite different.
Let’s dive in!
🚩 GIVE UP
Meaning: 👉 Stop doing something completely
📌 You quit. It’s finished.
Examples: - I gave up sugar. 🍫
- Don’t give up your dreams. ✨
🙈 GIVE IN
Meaning: 👉 Stop resisting and finally agree
📌 You didn’t want to… but you accepted.
Examples: - I didn’t want cake, but I gave in. 🍰
- She gave in to the pressure.
