New Challenge Alert: Let’s get talking!
Hey everybody! I’ve been brainstorming ways to make our community even more active, and I have an idea I want to run by you. We already have so much going on with our Livestreams, Challenges, and various series ~ it’s awesome to see this community so active! I’m considering adding one more thing to the mix to help with our speaking confidence. It would be called The Speak Up Series. The Idea: Instead of just reading and typing, this would be our dedicated space to actually speak. The Challenge: Once a week I’ll post a fun or thought-provoking prompt. (it could be a weird question, an unpopular opinion, or a mini-story). The Response: You reply with a 30 to 60-second clip sharing your thoughts. Long enough to practice, but short enough to be fun! Video or Audio? Feel like a movie star? Go for a video! 🎥 Still in your pajamas or haven't brushed your hair? A voice note is 100% okay. 🎙️ (We won't tell anyone you're still in bed!) The Best Part: Don't just post and disappear! Check out the clips from your fellow members and give them a reply. Let's get a real conversation going! 🗣️💬 This is a "Zero-Judgment Zone." We aren't looking for the next Shakespeare or a perfect BBC accent. We just want to hear you talk! If you make a mistake, just laugh and keep going. What's your take on it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.. @Shane Peterson

🇺🇸 English Expressions: Cut Someone Loose ✂️
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “cut someone loose.” 👉 It means ending ties with someone, letting someone go, or breaking up with them. It’s used when you release or dismiss someone, often with a sense of finality or moving on. Origin: This comes from the literal idea of untying or releasing something that’s bound. Over time, it became a metaphor for ending someone’s connection or obligation. Examples: • He decided it was time to cut her loose after all the drama. 😬 • The company had to cut him loose due to budget cuts. 💼 • Sometimes you just have to cut someone loose to move forward. 🌟 Figurative daily-life examples: • She wasn’t contributing to the group project, so we cut her loose. 📝 • I had to cut loose a few old habits that weren’t working. 💡 • They cut him loose from the committee after he moved away. 🏠 Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “cut someone loose” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝

🎥 Movies in English: About Time (2013) by Richard Curtis ⏳
Hey everyone! NEW DROP in our Movies In English section! It’s all "About Time" by Richard Curtis, well known as the director of Love Actually and The Boat That Rocked. Tim Lake discovers he has a special gift: he can travel back in time. At first, he uses it to improve his love life, win the heart of Mary, and fix little mistakes in his day-to-day life. But he soon learns that time travel can’t solve everything, and that life’s true joy comes from appreciating ordinary moments, family, and the people you love. As Tim grows, the story becomes both romantic and emotional, showing how small choices and everyday moments make life extraordinary. It’s funny, heartwarming, and moving — a perfect mix of love, family, and life lessons. A perfect film for learning English: the dialogue is natural, emotions are strong, and it combines humor with meaningful human stories. 🍿 Enjoy the movie! NO SUBTITLES! 🚫 👉 WATCH HERE https://www.skool.com/lme/classroom/49710349?md=477af8a81c73493f9eb60b077158cd42

1. It = topic = Coach Shane’s wife left him 😊 2. Them = batteries 3. They = the store workers 4. Pants = trousers Underpants = underwear 5. George says 125 because the real cost of the book is 100$ and he wants to sell it to Elaine more than he paid. 6. Simmer down = Don’t say anything, stop speaking.
