Hey everyone! 👋
Today we’re comparing two phrasal verbs that both mean “to look for something”, but the way you look for it is completely different 👀
Let’s talk about FISH AROUND 🐟 vs HUNT DOWN 🐕
🎣 FISH AROUND
Meaning: 👉 Look for something in a vague or indirect way
Examples:
- She was fishing around for compliments.
- I was just fishing around to see what people thought.
📌 Tone: casual, indirect, sometimes a little sneaky
🐕 HUNT DOWN
Meaning: 👉 Search for someone or something very carefully and with determination
Examples:
- I hunted down the original source.
- I finally hunted down that book I wanted.
📌 Tone: strong, focused, determined (sometimes intense!)
❓ Your turn!
