For years i have had to live from visa to visa (which had to be a teaching visa) and also having to work for places that could supply them. This would always happen around the summer holidays (vacation), schools would try and get away with paying you for the holidays or get some new teachers in for the start of the new semester. Some teachers would leave bad schools in the hope that they would find a better school or better money, there are agents that advertise jobs or head hunters that look for people.
Obviously the school i have been working for is not a good school and i have been looking everywhere to get a job, and at my age it isn't easy to get a job. It was starting to get a bit worrying as my visa was coming to an end, and needed a new job to carry over my working visa.
A year ago i applied for a green card which is for ten years, and does away with the visa. Well, we tried find out how far along it had gone and whether we would get it before my visa ran out, no one could tell us where it was and only that we hadn't been refused yet. At the ending of last week my wife got a call asking why we hadn't picked up the green card and that it's been waiting for us, we picked it up Monday and at the same time they cancelled my visa!
Now i don't have to live from visa to visa and i can work for schools that can't supply visas, i also don't have to rush to find another job! We are so happy now and a big weight has been lifted.
Congratulations to me!
