Character, Education, College.
TRANSCRIPT,
To what extent does a person's character, rather than formal education or social status, determine their success in life?
We need to understand the definition of the word “Character” which comes from the Ancient Greek word engraved mark (charaktēr), which means it is carved in your soul.
So, that is an important concept for us to understand. So, I always grapple with this idea of character and education. Education has not been a tool for becoming wise or renaissance person or savant.
I’m speaking from experience, I have talked to a lot of wise people from different parts of the world since I was a kid.
The first thing you need to consider is your lifestyle patterns.
  1. From the very beginning, that is your life, so be careful how you live. Now I'm not that prophet who dictates, but it is very important to understand that you only live once. You have to guide your character both willingly and consciously to something that elevates your character and your soul.
  1. Secondly, if something changes in your life, how would you react? Are you gonna complain? Are you going to be a whiny baby, OR as Jordan Peterson said, “are you going to stand up straight with your shoulders back”, and face this tyranny of life, or this despotism or the autocracy of life. Yes, you can be a slave to life, but your way should be freedom. This daily grind. Nevertheless,  You have to squirm through the biggest battle of your character’s life. You are going to ask me, Khalil, how I do that? I don’t know, and I don’t care, figure it out, decipher it. I will help, you need to take ownership of the task, you need to pull your weight and carry out the work.
  1. Finally, what does your character need to achieve at the end?  This is the last question you should ask. What is your destination? What are you aiming toward? That Question has binary answers, two different answers.  It can be religious and non-religious. I’m going to spend time on the non- religious perspective because we have different opinions and one goal.
What you aim for should be out of your love for humanity, i’m not telling you to help a thief, of course not! It has to be all-embracing and accepted by others. I listen to those people who say, “Love yourself, like yourself, care about yourself”. Of course, that won’t work. Instead, we should say we love the people around you. Feed the hungry. Actually, let me ask you, when was the last time we fed someone who is hungry, when was the last time you asked your neighbor if he needs something, food, clothes, dinner or lunch, if his children need clothes or something. Have you ever asked someone what problem they were facing and whether you could help solve it?
That should be your goal regardless of your religious or your political affiliation, again, I'm not telling you to love bad people. By the way, does college teach you this? Probably Not!
