Second nature to me- but different around family
I made a list of things that were a bit triggering for me this weekend with family in town. These things come 100% second nature to me, hands down how I support my kids and no question in my mind. But when family arrives… I notice it, second guess it and feel like I need to defend it.
  • Their body needs to move, sitting quietly at a table isn’t always possible or comfortable.
  • They can listen without making eye contact or showing the nonverbal cues you’re used to.
  • They need extra processing time, directions may take a pause, or a gentle repeat.
  • Wanting to be alone doesn’t mean they don’t like you; it’s simply how they recharge
  • Just because they don’t show physical affection doesn’t mean they don’t love you.
Does this resonant? How is it around your family?
