Has anyone sent direct mail or post cards to the businesses that you email?

I am think that using emails to test and find the interested prospects and then sending them a direct mail piece or post card might be a good way to generate more leads. I was think about sending the DM or post card to the people that opened my email. Have anyone done this? If so what kind of results did you get from doing this? I am thinking this may act as an extra marketing touch. Is this worth doing if your on a tight marketing budget? In the past Direct mail was very popular for mortgage protection and final expense leads but it has gotten more expensive. I am curious how well DM works with business owners in addition to sending them emails.
