Why most plumbers stay broke 👇
It’s not because there’s no work. It’s not because the trade doesn’t pay. It’s usually because of these mistakes: 💸 Undercharging Being busy doesn’t mean you’re profitable. Cheap prices keep you stuck. 📉 No control over numbers Not knowing your costs, margins, or tax bill = working blind. ⏱️ Trading time for money only No systems, no repeat clients, no structure — just job to job. 📱 Ignoring marketing & reputation The best plumbers don’t rely on luck. They build visibility and trust. 🧾 Poor systems No proper quoting, no follow-ups, no software — everything takes longer than it should. 🤯 Trying to do everything yourself Burnout kills progress. Delegation and systems change everything. Plumbing can pay very well — but only if you treat it like a business, not just a job. Biggest mistakes new apprentices make 👇
1️⃣ Trying to act like you already know everything Ask questions. No one expects you to be perfect — but they do expect you to learn. 2️⃣ Turning up unprepared Wrong tools, late starts, poor attitude. First impressions matter more than you think. 3️⃣ Not listening properly You’ll be shown things once. Pay attention. Write it down if you need to. 4️⃣ Rushing jobs Speed comes later. Focus on doing it right, not doing it fast. 5️⃣ Being glued to your phone Checking messages can wait. People notice effort. 6️⃣ Not taking exams seriously Revisions and prep matter. These results follow you for years. 7️⃣ Thinking mistakes mean failure Mistakes are part of the trade. Learn from them and move on. Plumber World
Most plumbing and heating businesses don’t fail because of lack of work. They fail because of systems. 👉 No clear pricing 👉 No follow-up with customers 👉 No maintenance plans 👉 Relying on emergency call-outs only The top companies do a few things differently: ✅ They educate customers (not just fix problems) ✅ They offer annual servicing & maintenance plans ✅ They price confidently and transparently ✅ They build trust before the boiler ever breaks Quick tip: If you’re not offering a boiler service reminder or heating health check to every customer, you’re leaving money (and loyalty) on the table. 💬 Question for the group: What’s the biggest challenge you’re facing right now in your plumbing or heating business—leads, pricing, staff, or systems?
