Can you have both a godly and ungodly soul tie to the same person?
Soul ties are created by the type of bond you form. If parts of your relationship line up with God’s will but other parts do not, you can experience both healthy and unhealthy ties simultaneously. Examples: Marriage but infidelity/manipulation: The marriage covenant itself is a godly soul tie (Genesis 2:24), but if the relationship becomes controlling, manipulative, or abusive, an ungodly layer can form alongside the godly one. Spiritual mentorship with sin: A mentor/leader bond can be a godly tie. But if it becomes controlling, manipulative, or emotionally dependent, an ungodly tie can form too. Close friendship: Deep friendship rooted in Christ can be godly. But if it crosses into sexual sin or codependency, the healthy bond coexists with an unhealthy one. - Godly Soul Tie vs. Ungodly Soul Tie Peace, growth, encouragement in Christ vs. Confusion, fear, lust, manipulation Healthy boundaries & respect vs. Control, obsession, idolatry Leads you closer to God’s calling vs. Distracts or pulls you from God’s calling You might feel peace and love with the person sometimes, but also feel trapped, manipulated, or unable to detach in unhealthy ways. That’s a sign there’s both good and bad. - What to Do You don’t have to destroy everything about the relationship to break the ungodly part. You can pray to renounce and sever the unhealthy tie while asking God to preserve and purify the godly tie. - Prayer to break ungodly soul ties but preserve Godly ones Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You for every relationship You have ordained in my life for my good and for Your glory. I honor the covenant and godly ties You have established with [name]. But Lord, I also acknowledge that sin, brokenness, or unhealthy patterns have allowed ungodly ties to form between us. I repent for any ways I have contributed to these bonds—whether through sin, idolatry, control, manipulation, or emotional dependency. I ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus.
