Smacking that ball
Green Bay traded up to get Florida kicker Trey Smack in the 6th round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Whether or not he wins the job, it’s a far better selection than Anders Carlson in the sixth a few years ago. Smack was the No. 1 or 2 rated guy for most analysts. Carlson was a complete surprise and had a weak track record from 40+ yards.
As luck would have it, six years ago he was in the same field goal group as at a national scholarship camp. While Ryan did fine, Smack was clearly among the elite even then. Enough so that I grabbed a clip from one of his kicks. This was the summer prior to his junior year in high school. It’s 40 yards I think, and he’s going off the ground.
You can see how smooth it was. The elevation is exceptional. As a Packers fan, I’m excited to see him get his chance now.
