Resources for detecting Maker's Marks
Hey there all you jewelry experts! My apologies if this has already come up but...
I frequently come across pieces that appear to have value, but I struggle with identifying the maker’s marks or signatures, especially when they are small, partial, or worn.
Are there any resources, reference guides, or strategies you recommend for researching maker’s marks beyond the usual Google image searches (which I've found is accurate maybe 0.6% of the time)
I’m especially interested in learning better techniques for identifying unfamiliar or partial marks on sterling and vintage pieces.
Any advice or reference materials would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
