Bakelite Super Secret Code.
Ammonia, regular old cleanimg Ammonia on a q tip. Household stuff. It is the common base ingredient in simichrome, 409 etc. The chemical reactions yield the nicotine yellow we are used to seeing with the polish. It is what's reactive in the polish when applied to phenolic compound. Bakelite is a brand name of phenolic resin. Bakelite as a company the og company focused on more industrial uses. Radios Gaskets Parts MachiningStuff etc Catalin, marbelette and others formulated the jewelry tones and special finishes of phenolic resin. There's a seller on Etsy that sells bakelite testing pads. These are genius. They are cosmetic pads soaked in super secret ..Ammonia allowed to dry and become portable for on the run testing. Follow me for more cool tricks.

Thank you so much! The testing pads are a fabulous idea. Is there anything that can test the black. My nose doesn’t smell the smell?
Can we talk……. Insurance?
For those of you who have private collections or a large inventory of Jewelry, do you have it insured through a separate private insurance company? Who do you use and how much does it cost? Needing to get my jewels insured.

My primary insurance is USAA, they referred me to The Hartford for Business insurance. They are reliable and affordable. Although I haven’t had any claims, thank god!
Duped?
Hi - I got a Christian Dior for what I thought was a good deal for resell. I listed it on eBay (dumb idea) and it was flagged. Now I am afraid I was duped. Any idea if this is legit ? Thanks friends !!!

eBay uses bots that are often wrong. I had a coach purse on there and it was flagged as counterfeit. I bought it new at Coach and still had the receipt!😂
tray setup
This question is for Brad or anyone else who uses tray by tray method for selling. How do you set up your trays? Do you set them up by color by price by visual beauty?

I try to put a variety of everything on each tray. I try to include different price points and pieces which will appeal to a variety of buyers. I feel like the variety can keep people engaged and looking forward to what they like on the tray.
