Day 2 of the 5 Day Challenge - The Major Scale
Comment “Day 2” on this post to keep your streak! Congrats for making it to day 2! Progress starts with consistency. Little and often is the best way to learn anything new! Today is about trial and error with the sounds of the major scale over the A section of “Lady Be Good”. You will be improvising with rhythm and using your ear to see what sounds good to you. Get to the classroom and start the video, show us what you come up with by posting a progress video on this post or use this thread to ask any questions you have about the challenge today. Happy practising!

5 Days to Improv: Take the Challenge
I've just created a brand new challenge for anyone wanting to start improvising and playing jazz from scratch. It's based on exactly what we work on in my "Getting Started with Jazz Violin" sessions, broken down into five simple daily steps you can follow at your own pace. You'll find the full free course waiting for you in the Classroom. Everything you need to take your first real steps into jazz is in there. I'll be posting about it everyday this week but you can join whenever you want! Here's how to begin: 1. Comment "READY" below so we know you've accepted, and we can all cheer you on 2. Head to the Classroom and open 5 Days to Improv 3. Start day one today You can’t master jazz in 5 days, but you can learn the ropes and start understanding how jazz musicians think practise and play. Join my free workshop all about the 5 days this Saturday 4th July https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/ZnjEKtrbT4SZBPN60qVcHw Comment "READY" and let's go 🎵
Day 1 of the 5 Day Challenge!
It’s your first day! Congrats for taking the challenge. Comment “day 1” on this post so we can cheer you on and get cracking in the course in the classroom! In our first video lesson in the course we are looking at learning the melody to Lady Be Good by ear and committing it to memory, using it to bounce off of with some improv. Use this thread to ask any question or post your progress video when you have practised the steps in the video. Happy practising

Recording
If I'm listening to the backing track in here, how do I record at the same time? Or are you using two devices...
READ ME-Recording yourself
Hi all a little step by step for recording yourself playing with a backing track easily. Had a few questions about this so thought I would clarify. This is the most simple way to do it but you will need 2 devices. (Most of us have this nowadays I’m sure) 1. You will need a laptop/pc with inbuilt speakers or that have speakers attached/bluetooth 2. Make sure you can hear the backing track coming out of those speakers 3. Set up your phone to record you and the backing track. Doesn’t need to be amazing picture quality just make sure we can see you play 4. Hit record then press play on your laptop Let me know if you have any questions.
