Grappelli VS Stuff
I made a pretty silly video last week. Trying to work out who is the greatest out of Grappelli and Stuff Smith. I even used the power of this community to help work it out. My life is weird but extremely fun!

Cool video with lots of info. And still, these guys are imposible to compare. Its like gardnerers having a discussion bout which tree is better. Full grown majestic Oak or beautiful sparkling Birch? But your insight Is always interesting
New experience
Ok i must share this. Today in the morning i posted couple of videos at jazz fb site in Vienna And i wanted play with somebody. French guy wrote me And invited me for the gig. I played couple of songs with them and i was absolutely terrible.got Lost in the solo, shit sound etc. EVERYTHING went Wrong. One time came guy to play with us who plays with Stochello Rosenberg,i was told😂.i Guess i pissed the v uys off a bit...Its nice to record videos at home and pretending to be able to play. Nice clash with reality...Now Its time to start properly practicing ang going to jam sessions everywhere.

Thx for the kind words.im not in some kind of despair, quite honestly i was expecting something like that, after such a long break from the stage, just wasnt expecting it to be that bad. I literally started feeling more comfortable cca 30sec before the end...😂. Nevermind, life goes on, love this music.im gonna pull this off no matter what...

i´ve spend so much time last few months in disgusting keys such as Eb F and Bb, that dusting off this piece in G suddenly feels kindof easy even in 270bpm. (dont get me wrong please theres still lot to be worked on) after a year of intense practicing i can finaly let loose at least for cppl of seconds. dont have to think about every single scale run, at least in this one. feels good, i guess we all have a good teacher who can motivate people the right way 😉😎🙏

@Matt Holborn yep exactly theres not much space to think,im trying to keep it simple. I realized Its lot about finding places to "relax" in between(thé fifths etc) otherwise my hands start boiling...

@Kaia K yah Its imposible for me to do that with just one finger in that tempo. Would be sluggish
Paul Desmond’s solo on ‘Rising Sun’ - Brubeck Quartet
This solo is incredibly fun for violin. The heavy, almost glissando-like vibrato is super engaging and Desmond’s ability to just come up with these overarching melodies and lines is something you just don’t see in all musicians. Here’s my crack at it. I’m a new member, and happy to be in the community! If you all know of some other great ballad solos like this please suggest them to me! And overall, how should a jazz violinist best approach a ballad solo? I’d love to hear some tips on how you all improvise this kind of stuff.
