Some words on “Balance"
“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm, and harmony.” — Thomas Merton
The word balance is both a noun and a verb— something we have, and something we do.
Life itself is a balancing act, right? Everything is in motion. When the world around us feels off-kilter, we do too. Balance isn’t about perfection— it’s about adjusting, over and over, even learning to find steadiness in the imbalance. High-wire artists don’t look down or ahead— they move one step at a time. Progress, not perfection, keeps them upright.
A pendulum swings from one extreme to another, but always returns to center. A musician tunes between sharp and flat until harmony emerges. In Taoist philosophy, yin and yang — the dance of opposites— create wholeness and balance.
Balance is harmony in motion. It’s not a thing you get; it’s something you practice. For me Everyday Energy movements with you and Drew continue to lift my spirits and keep me balanced.
Joy, pride, and creativity nourish the soul— and when you care for yourself first, everyone around you benefits. Meet your needs before your wants.
