Haybales & Chromatic Scales
Yesterday during my lesson with I had a revelation about a metaphor for how chromatic scale segments should sound:
They should have a certain momentum to them like, a haybale being thrown into a truck. Not robotic and all the same.
There should be a crescendo that creates momentum to the note you're headed to... like the momentum you need to lift something heavy over a fence! Hold in your mind the note you're aiming for and gain momentum towards it!
