The Endurance Journal
Endurance is a journey, not a sprint. Progress rarely follows a straight line, and the path is often littered with setbacks, plateaus, and moments of doubt. How you interpret these challenges — your mindset — can be the difference between stagnation and sustained growth. Too often, athletes focus on immediate results: a faster time, a longer ride, a higher power output. When the numbers don’t match expectations, frustration and self-doubt creep in. But long-term growth is about perspective. Every “failure” is feedback, every tough session is data, and every small improvement compounds over time. Shifting your mindset to see challenges as opportunities changes the game entirely. Patience is key. Real progress is gradual. Instead of measuring success in single workouts or races, look at the trends across weeks, months, and seasons. Celebrate consistency, not just milestones. Reflect regularly: what did today teach you about your body, your pacing, or your mental approach? Where can you adjust, adapt, and learn? Sustainable growth also comes from self-compassion. High performers push hard, but they don’t punish themselves for imperfection. They accept setbacks as part of the journey, use them to recalibrate, and keep moving forward. Resilience isn’t about never falling — it’s about how quickly and thoughtfully you rise again. Ask yourself:Are you chasing results, or are you cultivating growth? Are you focused on wins today, or on building the athlete you’ll be tomorrow? Long-term success is never accidental. It’s created by deliberate mindset shifts, consistent effort, and the wisdom to see beyond the immediate. Coach Carling
Running Is A Practise…
Running is a practice, not a performance. You don't need to be fast. You don't need to be thin. You don't need to be "disciplined" in the way the movies show it. You just need to be a person who puts on their shoes. You can be a runner with a soft belly, with grey hair, with a stroller, with a busy schedule, with walk breaks, with used shoes; there is no entrance exam, no pace requirement, and no committee deciding if you are legit enough—the simple, radical act of putting on your shoes and moving your body is enough.
