Continuing Your Reiki Journey Developing a Gentle Practice of Self-Reiki Your Journey, Your Pace, remember that learning Reiki is not about becoming someone different. It is about discovering what the practice means to you. You have explored the history and principles of Reiki, learned how to offer Reiki to yourself and others, and considered the importance of presence, self-awareness and compassion. Now you have the freedom to bring these teachings into your everyday life in a way that feels natural. There is no perfect routine. No particular experience you must have. And no expectation that your Reiki journey should look like anyone else’s. Your practice belongs to you. The Traditional 21-Day Reiki Practice Within many Reiki traditions, students are encouraged to practise self-Reiki for 21 days following their attunement. This is a traditional period of practice and reflection, rather than a medically established cleansing or detoxification process. You may find that taking a little time each day helps you become more familiar with the hand positions, develop confidence and discover what you enjoy about Reiki. However, the 21 days are not a test. If you miss a day, you have not failed. If you need to take a break, you can. And if you prefer to practise at a different pace, that is your choice. To support you, Rebalance Holistics offers a separate 21-Day Reiki Journey companion journal, with gentle daily themes, self-Reiki suggestions and space for personal reflection. You can use it whenever you feel ready. Creating a Practice That Works for You Self-Reiki does not need to take a long time. You might enjoy a full session using the hand positions from Chapter 9. Or you may prefer a few minutes resting your hands over your heart area or abdomen. You could practise in the morning, before bed or during a quiet moment in the day. Some days you may wish to meditate. Other days, mindful walking or simply sitting quietly may feel more appropriate. Allow your practice to support your life rather than becoming another obligation.
