God is between two thoughts, where the mind is silent. We think of God, we talk about God, we pray to God, but we rarely really feel Him. God cannot be found at all, but only felt in a place where there is no longer any “I” or “you” – where thoughts are nothing more than a pause, where all existence stands still. Paradoxically, although we occupy our minds with the idea of the divine, we do not realize that silence is precisely the key. God is there, between thoughts. Why between thoughts? Why not in thoughts? Because every thought brings judgments, fears, desires, comparisons. Every thought is like a wave on the ocean. And, like the wave, every thought creates a distance between you and silence. It is a simple but profound mystery: God in that void between thoughts, that profound peace that needs no arguments, theories or teachings. It is the silence that encompasses everything. Many call it love, others call it "presence."
