YOU DON'T LIVE THERE ANYMORE.

People have a habit of visiting your past more often than you do. They dig up your mistakes, they recall your shadows, they open doors for you that you locked long ago. But they don't know... They don't know that you don't live there anymore.

They don't know that you sold the building and left, your heart full of scars, but freer than ever. They think that the moments from then define you, but you know that every step you take forward has changed you. You are no longer the same person, and that past no longer represents you.

It's easy for them to judge what they once saw, but hard for them to understand who you are now. Your past is just an old story, and you have written new chapters. You haven't forgotten the lessons, but you don't carry their burden either.

Remind them that you don't live there anymore.

That what you were doesn't define who you are. That you have torn down the walls of pain and built the foundation of a new life, one in which you feel complete and whole.

When people choose to live in your past, let them.

That's their problem.

But you, you continue to build yourself in the present, because that's where you truly belong.
