SELF-KNOWLEDGE: THE LONG PATH WE ALWAYS BYPASS.
We know what we want, yet we do not know who we are. How is this possible? It is simple: desires arise spontaneously, whereas self-knowledge requires effort, patience, and time—things that frighten us.
It is easier to pick what appeals to us along the roadside than to plant trees in our own orchard. It is simpler to follow a moral law dictated by others than to build one’s own code of values.
And, certainly, it is easier to utter empty words than to think deeply.
That is why we seek shortcuts. We align ourselves with established patterns and follow imposed rules, yet we avoid coming face-to-face with ourselves.
