doing a good job…
Does anything come up when you receive positive reinforcement?
Was it familiar growing up?
I was at the gym yesterday working out and a guy I had never seen or met came up to me halfway through my workout
He said “good job earlier with the incline bench smith machine”
When he said this the first place my mind went was…
Did I forget to put some of the weight plates away?
I literally thought I did something wrong and that he was being sarcastic
I responded and was like “what do you mean?”
And he just reiterated that he could tell I was pushing myself to failure and “good job”
I said thank you and we spoke for a minute and it was a nice interaction with a stranger
What this reflected back to me was how quick my own childhood stuff came up…
Someone giving me a compliment came off as a threat that reflected back childhood patterning
As a kid I hardly received positive reinforcement
I felt I was on eggshells around my ex step mom from ages 9-17 and therefore have been more wired for what am I doing wrong than doing anything right
I believe in life we may block the ability to receive love and connection in many ways due to our childhood pattern that is still in place
With this type of awareness we can complete the past and allow more love and connection in
I have a process I’ve used that has completely changed the way I relate to myself and my ability to love or receive love
And it’s the exact process I used to integrate energy like this
