It is much more cunning than that.
He whispers to you:
"Check again."
"Change a little more."
"Waiting."
"It's not time yet."
And you believe him.
It's not the standards that keep you in place. But fear.
Fear of being seen before you feel ready.
Fear of making mistakes.
Fear of being judged.
The fear of discovering that perhaps what you have created will not be appreciated.
And then you choose the option that seems safer.
You wait.
You keep improving.
Put it off.
Until months pass.
Sometimes years.
There is no perfect option.
There is only the day when you choose that progress is more important than perfection.
