I’ll say it straight: pullovers—not lat pulldowns, not chin-ups—are FAR more effective when it comes to building wide, thick lats. That’s how I built my back.
The sad part? Most gyms don’t even have a proper pullover machine anymore. The Nautilus pullover was one of the greatest pieces of equipment ever designed… yet almost no gyms see the value in keeping one around. Troubling, right?
Sure—you can still get it done with dumbbell pullovers or cable pullovers. But the fact that this movement has been ignored tells you a lot about where training standards have gone.
