If you want to get bigger, you’ve got to get stronger…
I see a lot of newbies joining this board, we love to see it! Strength gains proceed size gains, there may be periods you grow stronger but don’t notice much change in your physique. Keep adding weight and reps to your top sets and you will see changes in your body. One set!

Day 4 - Ideal Program
I received a question on one of my TikTok videos recently asking whether I follow Mike Mentzer’s training program, or just use his principles to inspire me. The answer is basically both and here’s an example. Today I will be training Day 4 of Mike Mentzer’s Ideal Routine. Rather than training Squats today, I instead alternate Squats/Leg Press on the Day 2 workout (the first leg workout). Adding Deadlifts (specifically SLDs) stimulates the legs very well, as it’s a hip hinge movement. Also, you get some back and shoulders stimulation. Moreover, when I come back to the Day 1 workout of the routine (chest & back), I don’t have to do deadlifts on that day and can focus on rows, pulldowns and pullovers. If on Day 4 you train Squats, even with 48 hours rest or more, your hamstrings might not be recovered for a heavy Deadlift session on Day 1. There’s some of my reasoning and logic, hope it makes sense. Be your own scientist but stick to the fundamentals: intense, brief, infequent. What do you want more of? Comment below! 👇
Today is Monday…
I was debating going back into the gym today for a deadlift/legs session. After a heavy chest session on Friday and a busy weekend out and about, I’ve decided to hold off until tomorrow to give myself some extra recover time. Although I want to train, I know that when I’m doing my top set of deadlifts tomorrow, I’ll be able to push myself that bit harder thanks to the extra rest time. It’s important to listen to your own body, an extra rest day or two will not hurt. Hope you have a great week of training ahead. 💪
Thanks everyone who’s followed so far!
