My Gig Calendar
It’s early morning and I’m getting worried about whether I’m going to get enough playing time in the month of October. It dawned on me that this is going to be a great month for playing gigs. So far my calendar looks like this: Oct. 7, 11, 15, 18, 25, 26, 29. This includes worship band, private gigs, open mic nights, open jam nights.

Another gig Today
I may be able to attend Zoom today not sure though. I’m heading out to help my same friend as yesterday (knee injury), to help set up for another gig this afternoon. I am listening to Joshua’s book recommendation and based on some of the books recommendation’s I did not play much yesterday evening when I returned home. I did not practice an entire play thru of the songs I’m learning. I warmed up a bit and went directly to the problem areas which I’m needing to concentrate on. There I did repetitions of the mistakes I had been making. I then zeroed in on the riff itself, watched a player video doing the same riff and come to find out my rhythmic timing was off a bit and I was missing an entire note in the riff itself. These are the concentration techniques mentioned in Joshua’s book recommendation which I’m finding are spot on Thanks Josh!!
Seeing progress on one of my cover songs
https://youtu.be/Z1uWyff6azY?si=-Mm_CUyCL1aSGZ08 This is a song I love and I’ve been working on the solo for a long time. Recently with new practice techniques I’m seeing real progress with performing it. I also surprised myself at 1:15 with an improvised triad fill. I usually stick to the 2nd inversion C triad during the verse but I slid up to the root position triad. Very happy for that to start coming out naturally! Calling this one a win, but I always appreciate review and tips. Cheers!
Invited on-stage
Yesterday was the first time I was invited on-stage by another band as some kind of "guest musician". It was fun but that guitar was incredible uncomfortable, it slipped away a lot due to the way the strap was placed and the strings had a thicker gauge making my hand go numb. Besides that. It was a fun experience

Best live solo yet
I played at a blues jam yesterday and it was the most comfortable I’ve been on stage yet. I had some decent solos and this one was my favorite. (My only confession is I don’t think I used triads…it was probably all position 1 + 2 pentatonic)
