Book Recommendation

This book I recently finished focuses on many of these concepts and has transformed the way I think about practicing and playing the guitar. I shared the audible link above for anyone interested--highly recommend!

@Jad Gar yessss I have to remind myself not to keep playing through mindlessly. Better to break it down into the small difficult pieces and then build it back up

@Jad Gar nice I need to try that one still!
What Are Your Top 3 Struggles and Top 3 Goals on Guitar?
I have 2 questions for all the intermediate guitarists. What are your 3 most painful problems on the instrument? and What are your 3 deepest desires you wish to achieve on the instrument? Your answers will directly shape the content and support I create here. The more specific you are, the more I can tailor what I post to help you solve those exact problems and move you toward those goals Let me know in the comments below 👇

I’ll start with goals: 1. Be able to learn any guitar parts from my favorite songs (by ear). 2. Be able to play a song with my own variations - following the progression and ideas but improvising instead of note for note. (Make improv sound like a song) 3. Be able to imagine music in my head as I play it on the instrument in real-time. My current struggles: 1. Making rhythm parts (and soloing) sound cohesive with the band or with a motif. 2. Taking concepts (licks, rhythm, note choice) that I learn from songs and integrate it into my own playing. 3. Turning my brain off from figuring out “what to play” and instead trying to “play what I feel”.
Choir Day
This is the recording of our first song. I am standing directly in front of wedge/monitor. This video is for musical purposes only. I belong to a worship band and think musically this is relevant to learning music. Not for religious purposes.

Love this. My wife and I have been meaning to find a new church. And I wouldn’t mind trying out for their worship band!
Seeing progress on one of my cover songs
https://youtu.be/Z1uWyff6azY?si=-Mm_CUyCL1aSGZ08 This is a song I love and I’ve been working on the solo for a long time. Recently with new practice techniques I’m seeing real progress with performing it. I also surprised myself at 1:15 with an improvised triad fill. I usually stick to the 2nd inversion C triad during the verse but I slid up to the root position triad. Very happy for that to start coming out naturally! Calling this one a win, but I always appreciate review and tips. Cheers!

Trying to add some notes into the triad tones.

Really nice Sandy! I like that style of embellishments on the triads and like how you combine strumming with picking out individual notes
