What's More Important Scales or Songs??

Did you learn scales first then songs or did you have to learn a scale because of the song your were working on?

If you’ve ever seen the video of the guy flying up and down the guitar playing *all* the scales and wondered…

Should I be able to do that?

I’m here to let you in on a little secret.

Scales are tools, just like a metronome, just like our infamous spider exercise.

Great to know, but unless they’re used for creating music, there kinda pointless.

I always say.

Song first... Scales Second.

Pick a song that uses a scale then your learning that scale and applying it.
