1 Song Forever 😳♾️🎶
Let's pretend... For some ungodly reason you're only allowed to listen to 1 song for the rest of your life. What would it be? I'm going the classic answer is "Bohemian Rhapsody" Because it's long and has so many sections, solos, vocals are all great. How about you?

More than 23 years ago, I had to fly to Delhi, India for work. The only entertainment option that was offered that I liked was the Abbey Road album, which I listed to for the 18 hours of the two legs of my flight, one way. Listening really helped pass the time. But, I'm going to pick another song as my one and only: "Ava Maria". I'm not particularly religious, but I really like listening to the song. Attached is the rendition I believe I first heard.

Yesterday I told you how I went from terrified to building Guitar Gym Pro and watching my students hit milestones they once thought were impossible. Today, I’ve got big news. 👉 Registration is officially open for The Six Song System. This isn’t a group. This isn’t a course. This isn’t another dead end. It’s 1-on-1. Just you and me. I’ll hand-pick six songs for you and with you, based on your skills, goals, and ability level. Then I’ll personally build your practice sessions and play-alongs so every time you pick up the guitar…you know exactly what to do. The goal: to finally break you out of the beginner phase and become the guitarist you’ve always wanted to be. And here’s my promise: Play or Don’t Pay Guarantee. If after 30 days you don’t feel the momentum, confidence, and progress that makes you say “I am a guitarist,” I’ll give you a full refund. No hoops. No hard feelings. 🚨 Spots are limited…I can only take 10 players. 👉 The details are here: https://www.guitargympro.com/6songsystem

I started this program maybe a week and a half ago (before this announcement, obviously, and I didn't know the program name). My point is that I've never been so excited about a personalized program with step by step lessons, customized for you (well, me in this case). It is everything that Jake says it is! You'll love it.
The night I was terrified to play guitar…
Even as a music major, I couldn’t play a single song when someone asked. I’ll never forget being at a party my first year of college. Guitar in the corner. A few people joked, “Jake, are you gonna play something?” I laughed it off, but inside my heart sank. Truth was…I couldn’t play a song to save my life. Fast forward to today…and now I get to help adults who thought it was “too late” really learn guitar. Watching them go from scared to confident, from hiding to playing full songs for friends and family…it still blows my mind. Lately more and more people have been asking me for something beyond YouTube tips or casual lessons. They wanted real 1:1 guidance and a clear step-by-step path. So I built it. ➡ Tomorrow I’ll share exactly what it looks like — and how a small group of adult learners are going to go from “stuck beginners” to confident guitarists in just weeks. Drop SONGS below if you want me to DM you the details when it opens.

How do you hold your pick? 🎸
And what kind of pick do you like to use? I go over my favorite and recommended technique for holding the pick, which works for so many musicians, but is a little tricky to get used to at first. I'd love to know if you think I'm nuts for recommending everybody holds the pick this way. 🙃

I hold my pick as described in the video. I've done so for at least a couple of years. More recently, I have learned to not use a death grip, The angle away from parallel with the strings is something I play with to see what works best for me. I use Dunlop max-grip picks (dimpled) and even then, the pick will sometimes twist around in my hand. I currently use 1.5mm thickness picks, even for strumming. I used to use a much thinner pick (e.g., .88mm) for strumming, but I found that I can strum less aggressively and use a thicker pick all the time. I still experiment a bit....
What generation are you?
Here’s a little game of guess your generation 🙃 Here’s the rules: 1️⃣ Down below post a gif that is exclusive to your generation. 2️⃣ Based on that info we will all try to guess your your generation. This should be a fun one. 😆 I'll go first 👇

My guitar journey started in '78. Rocksmith 2014, post-2018 retirement, spurred JustinGuitar/FretScience lessons, leading to my 1st band performance.
