How do you hold your pick? 🎸
And what kind of pick do you like to use? I go over my favorite and recommended technique for holding the pick, which works for so many musicians, but is a little tricky to get used to at first. I'd love to know if you think I'm nuts for recommending everybody holds the pick this way. 🙃
You can't schedule breakthroughs!!!
What if your breakthrough happens this week? But...you decided not to practice or just pick up your guitar. Breakthroughs happen when you least expect it. AKA… There is no way to schedule them. But… One way to guarantee you never have one. Don't pick up your guitar. Seriously...it never has to be a perfect practice session, but getting the guitar in your hangs is the only way to get better. So, this week I challenge you to pick up your guitar everyday, even if its 2 minutes to noodle. JUST PICK IT UP!!! And breakthrough will come.

Do you use your wrist or elbow when you strum?
When you're strumming, do you find you use more wrist or more elbow? And how are you moving your wrist? Is it up and down or is it a rotation motion? 🤔 That was a little bit of a trick question. The answer is all three 😊 And this video is breaking down exactly how I think about the mechanics of strumming on the right hand. Thanks to @Erik Zambrano for bringing this to mind 🧠😆

Misinterpreted songs???
What songs do you love that it took you forever to realize the meaning to? Or that other people always misinterpret the meaning to? My favorite examples are "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind. Which is about meth addiction, even though it sounds so happy. An Angel by Sarah McLaughlin. It's another one that people think is sweet and ascribe all sorts of meaning to, but is about heroin overdose.
