OUR SECOND HABIT: FASTING
Fasting is quite simple if you define it like this: GO WITHOUT.
There are several things we decide to go without; some by choice, and some forced by lack of supply or ability to acquire.
What I’d like to talk about is the thoughtful decision to go without… by choice. Food and drink in particular as it is over supplied, craved at every turn , and mostly toxic here in the US.
A simple and consistent implementation of fasting to give the body mind and spirit a chance to do deep work can do absolute wonders.
For the body and mind it gives it refuge from a constant duty of digesting, assimilating, and eliminating as well as a chemical reaction that can impede focus and clarity. Fasting allows the metabolism as a whole to focus on healing, efficiency and recovery.
This also gives the spirit a chance to engulf a moment of emptiness with fulfillment.
There are several fasting protocols you can follow, but a 24 hour fast is a fantastic place to start.
In my opinion, it gives all other protocols a place
At the table.
Once you learn how to stop eating and drinking calories (or very low cal) for 24 hrs, you have the power to both intermittent fast daily, or execute an extended fast with permission from the body’s bank, in future windows.
Prepare with a Juice Kit, Broth or a day of fasting. Eat a healthy protein rich meal with a root vegetable dinner, and do not eat again until the same type of dinner the next day at the same time, allowing 24 hrs to pass with just juice, broth or purified water.
