Making my community Public?

I was thinking about making my science nerd community public. Does anyone have any feedback or advice about this? The science nerd communities is just a science exchange articles podcast and such so there’s no hidden content in there. Now my other group, I will definitely want to keep that private. That group is about Fundraising and people building their startups so I want to keep that private. But this first group it’s just a fun group. It’s there’s no purpose in the group other than science exchange. Has anyone made the group public or gone from private to public or vice versa and what was your experience? Also, I do have a couple of people that are younger in age in the group. A couple of younger females. So I am really paranoid about keeping them protected. Thank you in advance.
