Hello,
Thank you, I really appreciate it. I wanted to ask for some guidance because I’m currently facing a challenge with my dispatching business.
Right now I am working to obtain carriers, but most of the truckers I connect with have brand new authority (less than 3–6 months) and many of them are not fully compliant with broker requirements yet. Because of that, a lot of brokers will not work with them at this stage.
What ends up happening is that I spend a lot of time helping these carriers with full back-office setup, compliance, and dispatch preparation, but we are unable to actually book loads due to their authority age or missing compliance items.
This makes it difficult to generate income consistently, even though I am putting in a lot of time helping carriers get prepared.
I also wanted to ask another question: when a carrier does not already have their compliance items completed and I assist them with setting up their paperwork, profiles, and back-office compliance, is it standard practice to charge a separate compliance or setup fee, in addition to the dispatch percentage?
I would really appreciate any advice on:• Better ways to find established carriers with active authority• Strategies dispatchers use to work around new authority restrictions• Whether it is common to charge a compliance/setup fee when carriers need that work completed
Any insight or direction would be extremely helpful.
Thank you again.
