Want to give back to the horses that give me so much
Hi All, this sounds like a very safe place (which can be rare in the equestrian world). I started riding at 6, got my first horse at 13, mourned him at 28, took years away from horses because it felt disloyal, and started riding again about 8 years ago. I ride at a non-profit riding centre so I'm working with lesson and therapy horses who are handled by a variety of people. Giquau has stolen my heart because he was the horse who took care of me while I was pregnant with my youngest son. He's a gentle giant (half draft) who I would literally trust with my life and that of my children. He (and really all the horses) have done so much for me that I want to be the best equestrian I can to give back to them. I look forward to learning and growing in a way that will benefit Giquau (and all the horses I work with). ❤️🐴
Hello!!
My name is Dieuwke and the white horse on my profile picture is Diablo. He is a 15 year old gelding who I own for over 3 years now. We had a lot of issues with riding due to no trust between us. That happened because of a fall, headshaking, ill fitted saddle and bridle etc. But after learning alot about me, my energy and how it is affecting my horse we are alot better! But I want to keep learning so we can trust eachother even more (sorry english is not my first language so maybe there are alot of spelling mistakes...) oh and I am from Holland :)
Seeking 'Tsahaylu' with Ssemi (But staying on the ground!)
Hi, everyone. I’m a new guardian and have been with my Ssemi(4-Age, mare), for about two years now. I recently finished reading 'Horse Brain, Human Brain' by Janet Jones, which was recommended here, and it was so helpful. The part about 'Synchronization' really stuck with me. The book explains how the predator’s brain and the prey’s brain can actually become neurologically connected as one. Reading that, I couldn't help but think of the movie Avatar—specifically the 'Tsahaylu(?)' connection, where the Na'vi and the Ikran(Banshee) sync up their nervous systems to become one. My goal is to be a partner and guardian whom Ssemi can truly trust and connect with, not just someone who simply rides her. Of course, I’m not planning on zipping and zooming around through the air like they do in the movie! But I do hope to feel that kind of mental bond someday. Has anyone here experienced that magical moment of synchronization? I would love to hear your stories!"
