This is so relatable! I’m also spending time with my 4-year-old mare, Ssemi, and we’re focusing on groundwork to build that deep connection too. Rooting for you and Boyco!

@Zoë Coade That sounds amazing, Zoë! I'm so excited to learn more about advanced liberty and mirroring. I really hope the weather clears up soon so we can see those videos! Can't wait!
Update idk what number hehe
Dekota did good she stood to let me pick out her foot then we had an extra challenge which we did not plan for and she passed cleaned her hooves with the pick when i get to the right she i dont know if she loses balance or if she get a fright when the sand or something touches her and pulls away but the ultimate test was when we didnt see the branch on the sand and her leg got held up with the branch and she stood like a champ this is closer to the end if the video so two wins today definatly progress i did not expect her to remain that calm when her leg got stuck it just shows we are doing soemthing right yaaay

@Jessica Enslin, Zoë Coade This is amazing! Huge congrats on the hoof picking success—Dekota handled that branch like a pro. Actually, I'm working on the same thing with my 4-year-old mare, Ssemi. She sometimes struggles with her off-side (right) front foot, too. Zoë, your advice about 'waiting for that exhale' is such a game-changer for a new owner like me. I'll definitely give it a try with Ssemi. Thank you for sharing!

@Zoë Coade Thank you so much for the encouragement, Zoë! It means a lot to me. I'll keep paying attention to Ssemi's breathing and take it slow on her off-side. Your guidance really helps me connect with her better!
🌟 Be brave with your dreams...
...I’d love to invite you to share something. What are your dreams with horses, no matter how big, small, quiet, or bold? And I mean the real ones. Not just to spend time with them (which is beautiful), but the ones that stretch you a little. Because there is so much more available to us than just loving them and love, when paired with understanding and courage, can create extraordinary things. It's where magic and self-belief lives. Horses are incredibly intelligent. They are capable of so much when invited to use their brains. That's what I try to share for example across my socials. Liberty. Bridleless riding. Deep trust. Lightness. Good partnership. I find that sometimes my students shrink their dreams because they think they’re unrealistic. Sometimes they shrink them because they don’t believe yet that they're capable. I always think they are capable. No pressure coz I cannot make them see, only guide. But when they do realise what is possible, I am usually met with a huge wow and a smile that extends to the moon and back. Money can't buy that. 🤩 So tell me, if nothing was holding you back, what would you love to experience with your horse? This is a brave and safe space. Dream out loud 🐴✨🫶

💘 Week 7 - 2026
💕 Valentine’s Weekly Win - this week, let’s celebrate love. Those everyday choices to show up with patience, softness, and try again. Here’s a little something for you: Roses are red, Grass is sweet, Love isn’t ribbons, It’s four muddy feet. It’s the pause before pressure, The breath before ask, The try that they offer, When trust is the task. So for this weeks romantic Weekly Win, I’d love to know: What moment this week felt like love with your horses? A softer eye? A braver step? A quieter you? Drop your little love story below! 💝🐴✨🫶

This poem reminds me of a warm weekend last autumn. Ssemi walked up to greet me, then simply lay down and showed me her back. I realized then that love isn't about 'doing' something—it's just being there and doing nothing together. I was lucky enough to capture that moment of absolute trust on video!
